Changing Venues

Our conference room has moved! But not Mo. He's still at the old hold. And so are the swords that haven't passed hands for a while now. Before you get off on the wrong trail... 'for a while now' translates to roughly two weeks.

That there above, is our old conference room.

And that there below is our new conference room. Mo needs to move in. Connectivity needs to be enabled. And our books need to move in here too.

Boney M Comes Together Again

Are they regrouping, because we see a new band member here.

We're Nearing The End. It's Time...

...to look back and see how far up the ladder or how far down the ladder we are in our pursuit of being the best in the industry in India.

But let's save the soul searching, hand-wringing and preaching for two weeks from now when we would be actually completing a whole year of Mo. (Mo symbolizes the Monday Morning Meeting, remember? And also stands for never giving in, among other things that contribute in making a difference.)

Cutting to the chase, Arshad was the only one who made a submission today. But a rather poor one at that when compared to the one he didn't submit. Good work again Arshad, but you'll have to be smart about submissions too as you found out today. By the way, if we may ask, where do you see yourself on the ladder Arshad?

Laddu!

There’s this smart Alec coinage in Tamil – giving the laddu – which roughly means to give the cold shoulder. Now why should this particular coinage be of particular interest this Monday morning? That picture up there should explain. That’s the empty design bay at 10.24 this morning. Well, almost empty but for Arshad.

And below we have our laptop posing with Ananda! (You read that right). Take both together and what do you get? You get a postponed meeting. Whatever is happening to Monday Mornings?

Ismile Pliss!

Two winners this time round. Both for design. And that makes us smile. We only wish we could put up those works here, but… That’s Mallika and Arshad there. The gentleman must be on a roll. Is that the second time in about two months Arshad? You got to practice on that smile there, now that more swords are coming your way.

Listening To The Pigeons

Below is an extract from Bob Gill’s book, 'Design as a Second Language', a practical resource that highlights the fundamentals of design. He gives you important insights into how to develop original work.

“Have you ever seen autumn leaves, after they fall to the ground, arrange themselves in a very boring composition? I haven’t.”

“What about pigeons stopping for a rest in a pavement square? Do they arrange themselves in a boring layout? I’ve never seen it.”

“The spatial relationships found in these random arrangements of leaves or pigeons or almost any natural accidents are never mechanical or predictable or uninteresting.”

“This lesson that nature teaches us is simple, but very important. If you prefer to relate space mathematically (by using a grid), go for it.”

Otherwise listen to the pigeons.”
