Tasting Blood Young

Just after his first few months in advertising, Ogilvy took advertising in a new direction. A man walked into Ogilvy's London agency wanting to advertise the opening of his hotel. Since he just had $500 he was sent to the novice - Ogilvy. And what did novice Ogilvy do? He bought $500 worth of postcards and sent an invite to everybody he found in the local telephone directory. The hotel opened with a full house! "I had tasted blood", says Ogilvy in his Confessions.

Are actions like these still possible today? They are warrented, no doubt. But are they possible?

The elephant and the mouse...

Every now and then, we have this cute visitor who accompanies her mom to office. And while her mom slogs at her desk, the little visitor engages herself in scribbles and squiggles. Like the one above. That's a mouse carrying an elephant across a little stream.
You can see the little visitor here.
